Katrina attempts to make her relationship with Salman work again

Katrina KaifAlthough Katrina Kaif and Salman’s Khan’s relationship in is trouble, Katrina is doing her best to make the relationship work again. There were speculations in the media that Katrina didn’t want to go to Salman’s farmhouse at Panvel for Salman’s birthday on December 27 this year. However, Katrina changed her mind at the last minute and reached Salman’s farmhouse on December 26, just a few minutes before midnight.

In fact, Katrina cut shot her shoot for Vipul Shah’s Singh is Kinng so that she does not miss the party. As per schedule, Katrina was supposed to be in Punjab on December 27 shooting for Singh is Kinng, but she made sure that the shoot was postponed so that she could be with Sallu.

On Katrina’s request, Vipul stopped his schedule midway on December 26 and the entire unit returned to Mumbai.

Our source from Singh is Kinng’s unit says, “Katrina told Vipul and Anees that she wanted to spend time with her family and bring in the New Year at home. But the real reason was that she wanted to be with Salman for his birthday party.”

A top actor from the industry, who attended the party, confirmed that Katrina was very much a part of the celebration in Salman’s farmhouse.

Our source says, “Recently, Salman and Katrina’s relationship is in trouble. Things are definitely not the same. There was a time when the two had decided to call off the relationship but as they go back a long way, the two have had long conversations and tried to sort out their differences. And what better time than Salman’s birthday to try and let bygones be bygones?”

When quizzed about it, Vipul and Katrina gave contradictory statements. While Katrina maintained that that the schedule had actually got over on December 26, Vipul said that they changed their plans and that the original plan was to continue shooting in Punjab and not to return to Mumbai midway.

Katrina says, “I did not come to Mumbai especially for Salman’s birthday. Singh is Kinng’s schedule got over on December 26.”

However, Vipul says, “Before Punjab, we shot for about three-and-half months at Goldcoast in Australia. We then started shooting at Punjab and were supposed to be there till January 15. But everybody wanted to be in Mumbai for the New Year. We have taken a break for five days. We will resume shooting on January 3.”

Katrina Kaif in a freewheeling chat on Salman Khan and marriage plans

Katrina KaifBollywood hottie Katrina Kaif is easily one of the most envied women in Bollywood today. And it has as much to do with her pretty face and the plum projects she has in her kitty, as her closeness to Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan. But what really has the pretty actor charged up is the tremendous response she’s garnering at the box-office. Katrina has been appreciated for her heroine-centric role in Namastey London and is now basking in the accolades pouring in for her role in Apne. “That should keep the detractors shut for good,” she laughs. And while she’s forthcoming about her professional life, she has a stoic stand on her personal life. And Salman’s one topic that’s off her chat radar, for unlike many actors of her ilk, she guards her personal life fiercely. “My relationship with Salman is too personal to talk about,” she states firmly. “I take my work like any other regular job and what I do in my personal life is no one’s business. I’d rather let my work do all the talking,” she says rather matter-of-factly. And that it certainly is. With big-budget films like Main Yuvraj, Race, Welcome and Partner to look forward to, she’s certainly on a professional high.

But wasn’t she worried about being overshadowed by the Deols (Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby) in Apne? “Not at all. We have to accept that Bollywood is a hero-centric industry and roles like the one in Namastey London are a rarity here. But I loved the experience of working with the Deols. They are such warm people. Perfect gentlemen to the core!” she exclaims. Katrina’s equally excited about dubbing for her own voice in the film. “It feels so much real that way,” she says. Having faced flak for her accent early on, Katrina reveals that she takes it as “constructive criticism”. “I’m working on my Hindi. After all, no one’s perfect here and there’s always room for improvement,” she says.

And while she’s quite open about admitting her shortcomings, she’s equally defensive when it comes to facing the barrage of accusations being hurled at her, including the ones that accuse her of using Salman’s clout to better professional prospects. Questions she, “What connection does Vipul Shah (director Namastey London) have with Salman? Or what connection do the Deols have with Salman? None at all. We are talking about big money here and no one in the industry would take you in a project, if you have no merit to back it up,” she avers.

And wasn’t she disturbed with rumours linking her to co-star Akshay Kumar, thanks to the crackling chemistry the two share on screen. “I think this is the work of idle minds who are really not happy with their own lives and have enough time on their hand to speculate about others”

A successful model caught in the big, bad world of Bollywood? “Nope, that Bollywood’s definitely not!” she laughs, “though there may be a few people who certainly are.” On a serious note she adds, “I am lucky to have been able to work with good directors and brilliant co-stars.” A selfadmitted introvert by nature, she says that she’d love to spend her life with close ones and not be seen by anyone. “But then this is what I am doing for a living and sometimes it’s more interesting to go against the tide.” Talking about her close ones, how important is love in her life? “It’s an absolute necessity, be it of parents, siblings or friends. That love is what sees you through all odds and keeps you going. It’s easy to lose yourself in the showbiz and all the fame, but it’s this love that keeps me firmly rooted and secure.”

And is marriage on the cards? “It will happen some day. But definitely not anytime soon…” she smiles. And the reports of her set for a December wedding… “Are all rumours,” she signs off.

Katrina Kaif insists Govinda is taller than her…

Katrina KaifKatrina Kaif may be romantically linked with Salman Khan in real life but her reel-life love stories seem to be all about mismatched couples. Her pairing with Govinda in Partner is a total howler.

Wouldn’t everyone expect Katrina to be paired with Salman in David Dhawan’s Partner? “But people will love my paring with Govinda! I think Akshay and I are seen as a good pair b e c a u s e we’re both tall. But hey, Govinda isn’t short at all! In fact he’s a bit taller than I am.”

Justifying her pairing with Govinda and not Salman Kat says, “Why am I not paired with Salman in Partner ? In the film my pairing with Govinda makes sense. As soon as you see us together you’ll say, ‘Hey, this makes sense!’ My partner in the film has to be everything that I am not, and vice versa. We’re supposed to be a mismatched couple.” So okay, opposites attract! Katrina is all praise for Govinda. In an industry where if you are out of sight you are of mind, Govinda bounced back after staying away from the flashlights for a few years. Says Katrina, “He knows where he comes from and appreciates where he has reached. Then he had to step back a bit. And now he’s back to where he belongs. He’s returned with the earlier enthusiasm.”

Katrina had made her debut with Salman and David Dhawan in Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya two years ago. “But things were very different then. Partner is a different kind of comedy. I love doing comedy especially with Govinda.”

Says Katrina, “Though I’ve done a film with Salman earlier Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, Subhash Ghai’s Main Yuvraj will be my first film where I’m paired with Salman romantically. In my first film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya he didn’t go with me at the end (Sushmita got Salman in the end). Main Yuvraj is a huge film and a full-on musical. Subhash Ghaiji and A R Rahman are coming together to create the musical, so you can imagine what is in store.”

Katrina Kaif looking forward to ‘Namastey London’

Katrina KaifShy and reticent, Katrina Kaif has a phobia of the media just like her boyfriend Salman Khan. She clearly has been instructed to give to-the-point answers. But her vulnerability manages to peek out once in a while even when she is doling out short, clipped and what suspiciously seemed like rehearsed answers. Ask her a remotely awkward question and she goes back into her shell, like a true Cancerian.

To get her out of it, one needs to broach the topic of her next release, ‘Namastey London’ where she co-stars with Akshay Kumar, which she is most excited about at the moment. Playing a role close to her own life of a girl who struggles to settle down in India after being brought up in a totally different culture in London, Katrina says, “I could identify quite a bit with the role. But the girl’s character is not like mine at all. The situations might be similar but I might have not reacted the way the girl in the film does.” Katrina is hoping to be taken more seriously as an actor after this film. She says, “This film is very important to my career in the sense that the role is etched out so well and I have had a great scope to perform. I hope to be accepted better after this film.” Tell her she is looking lovely in the promos and she doesn’t look too happy.

She says, “I just hope people also see something beyond that. There is something much deeper than what you just see in the promos,” with eyes downcast, as if saddened by the fact that not many know the real Katrina.

She says she loves being a part of the industry — because ‘if you are honest, you are readily accepted.’ But there is something about the industry which irks her too.

“I can do without people forming opinions and jumping to conclusions without really knowing me.” Ask her what kind of films she is really interested in, she says, “I don’t understand new age cinema. All I know is good cinema and bad cinema, and I obviously want to be part of good cinema, small or big,” she says finally flashing a smile.

Since she is new to the industry, does she take boyfriend Salman’s help in choosing a film? Kat hastily retreats back into her shell and says, “No, I do that on my own.”

Who is Katrina’s mystery guy?

Katrina KaifSalman Khan may be her real-life boyfriend, but we hear Katrina Kaif is excited about a new mystery guy in her life. And he happens to be her new co-star in Vipul Shah’s Indo-British venture Namaste London, where Katrina is paired opposite a Hollywood bigwig. And though the makers aren’t revealing the name of the actor, there was widespread speculation that she would be paired opposite Jason Connery (son of legendary actor Sean Connery). However, Katrina can’t control her curiosity and she apparently texts Shah every hour to find out who has been finalised opposite her. Well, we can’t possibly blame her, because we too are equally curious to know who Katrina will be romancing – on screen that is!

Katrina Kaif is lost in transit

Katrina KaifThe other day Katrina Kaif couldn’t figure out whether she was coming or going. And we’re speaking literally. The London returned actress thought she was headed to Hyderabad for a shoot, but ended up at a wrong check-in counter.

The man at the counter was so happy to meet the sexy star, that he didn’t bother to waste time checking out the ticket details for too long. He kept staring at her while he handed her a boarding pass, which turned out to be just some boarding pass.

So now, when Katrina alighted, she found herself stranded at the destination airport without anyone to whisk her away from the madding crowds. “When I called up my agent, he swore that a car had been sent for me,” says Katrina. “But there was none, and I began to get nervous after a while.”

Only then did Katrina look around her – and realised that she had landed up at Ahmedabad instead of Hyderabad. For, there was a Gujarati-speaking crowd at her elbow, instead of a Kannada-speaking one. Katrina then rushed back into the airport and took the next flight to Hyderabad.

Katrina Kaif is hardcore Sean Connery fan

Katrina KaifAge does matter, at least for Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif that is. The lissome lass was recently signed on by filmmaker Vipul Shah for his first Indo-British venture Namaste London opposite Hollywood veteran Sean Connnery’s son Jason Connery. Apparently, Jason was cast in one of the important roles, but after screen tests, the age difference between the two seemed a lot, as Jason would have looked slightly older to Katrina. Shah has also hired Hollywood heavyweight Peter Field as director of photography who has shot The Da Vinci Code, the Brad Pitt starrer Troy and Tomb Raider, among others for this film. “Being a hardcore Sean Connery fan, I was really looking forward to working with Jason,” says Katrina. Now other actors are being considered for the same role. “I will be heading to London by the end of this month to finalise another actor,” reveals Shah. Though the filmmaker adds that it’s too early to reveal who’s on his wish list, an insider informs that the actor in question could be Keira Knightley’s exboyfriend Jamie Dornan. Well Jason’s loss could be Jamie’s gain.
