Kareena Kapoor, who stars in director Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest film Omkara, says she is going to star in all his movies. “Director Vishal Bhardwaj and I have formed a mutual admiration society. We’ve made a pact. I’m going to feature in every single film of his. And if I don’t fit into a film of his, he’s just not going to make it, as simple as that,” says Kareena. “I think Omkara will be a new beginning for me as an actress. Everyone connected with the film will benefit. So will I,” she added.

She and boyfriend Shahid Kapur have just had a whale of a time doing live concerts all over the world. “Shahid and I had such a blast during the concert tours. We shopped till we dropped. We came back to Mumbai with 10 suitcases. The customs guys at the airport looked at us as though we had lost it. Shahid and I also took time off to visit my aunt in Detroit. You could say it was our family visit together,” she gushes.

The comfort level with Shahid is so high and so constant you wonder when they’re making it legal. “Let him work for a while. I also have so much to do. I feel I’m just starting out. I can’t tell you how excited I am about Omkara.” She is working with Shah Rukh Khan in Don, but in another project, it’s John Abraham who will feature opposite Kareena. “It’s Soham Shah’s film for Karan Johar. I’m excited about this because it’s my return to Karan’s banner after Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. A lot of water has flown under the bridge since I lost Kal Ho Na Ho.” Soham’s film will offer Kareena an entirely new co-star in John. “Where are the really exciting co-stars for me, yaar?” she mock-groans. Kareena has sure come a long way - from a girl who before the release of her first film Refugee said she wants to remain in salwar-kameez all her life and be another Madhubala, to the va-va-voom diva in K3G, and again back to the simple salwarkameez gal in her latest film Chup Chup Ke. Chuckles Kareena, “My role in Chup Chup Ke was short, but it was sweet. I liked the simplicity of the girl I played. I’m basically a simple girl in real life. It’s showbiz that changed me into this glam girl. Not that I’m complaining. How many people can claim to be where I am?”

Last Friday Shahid Kapoor was seen shopping for cushions at the Zeba showroom in Bandra, with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor in tow. The duo was seen picking up stuff for doing up Shahid’s place. “They came together to shop and picked up some cushions. When we asked them the reason for shopping, they said it was for Shahid’s house-warming,” says Arva, the floor manager at the showroom. The shopping spree was apparently followed by Shahid throwing a house-warming party last Saturday, where Kareena played hostess.

When contacted Kareena refused to comment. She said, “I am not going to comment. That’s my new rule. I will be only talking about my films and professional assignments from now on. Please keep me out of all this.” Shahid too faithfully seconds his girlfriend and only offers a terse “No comments”.

Meanwhile, our source says, “Whenever they get some time, Shahid and Kareena enjoy shopping for household stuff together. Kareena has taken special interest in doing up Shahid’s house. She is completely in tune with Shahid’s likes and dislikes.”

The couple started dating two years ago and since then their relationship has gone from strength to strength. The success of their recent releases 36 China Town and Chup Chup Ke further enhanced their off-screen chemistry. They were together at the Rockstar concerts for a month too.

“Kareena and Shahid make a great couple and share a very good equation,” says a close friend. “Even when Kareena is traveling, she makes it a point to call Shahid regularly. She is very caring and protective about Shahid.”

After Chup Chup Ke, actor Kareena Kapoor is now looking forward to the release of her next film Omkara, in which she plays a rural character. In the film which is based on Shakespeare’s Othello, Kareena plays Dolly Mishra, a take off on Desdemona. The damsel describes this experience as an enthralling one. “Working with Vishal Bhardwaj and the team of Omkara was a pleasurable experience. This film is going to take me to another level altogether. The amount of job satisfaction I’ve got from doing this movie is unimaginable,” says Kareena. Let’s hope that the success that follows with this one is also ‘unimaginable’ for this talented lass.

She’s one babe who never wastes a moment in shooting off a word of praise for someone she really likes. Whether it’s her favourite costars and buddies like Akshaye Khanna, Fardeen Khan or her sweetheart, Shahid Kapur. Now that she’s worked with Saif Ali Khan, who’s known to be a natural lady-charmer, Bebo is quite high on him too. “In Omkara I’ve more scenes with Ajay Devgan since I am playing Desdemona. But from whatever little I have interacted with Saif, I think he’s a charming and a cool guy. The best thing is that the kind if films he does enhances his personality. I loved him in Salaam Namaste; no one could carry off that role better,” says KK. Well Bebo, we second you on this one. Indeed, Saif can make the most gorgeous women around go fida!

“Do you think I’m the kind of person who would sit and mope over a lost film?” asks Kareena when qustioned about the reports that she was upset as Ram Gopal Varma has shelved Shah Rukh Khan starrer Time Machine. “No way! There’s so much more to life than cinema. I feel I’ve just begun to discover the beauty of living. And there’s so much more to cinema than one role in one film. Yeh nahin aur sahi. Right now, I’m going through the most beautiful phase of my life. Things couldn’t be better with Shahid and with Vishal Bharadwaj’s Omkara around the corner I feel I’m just starting out.”

Isn’t she regretful about losing out on working with Shah Rukh? “I know there were rumours that I was very upset when I heard about Ramu shelving the film. First of all, my cellphone wasn’t working at that time. So I had no way of knowing anything, or getting upset about it. Secondly, I was having a ball doing my my world concerts with Shahid. No time or appetite for regrets. It’s just one more film. Very frankly, I hadn’t even been signed for it. It was just a verbal agreement. Projects come and projects go. There’ll be many opportunities to work with Shah Rukh in the future.”

But according to reports Kareena opted out of Harman’s debut project because of the Ramu-SRK project? “My decision to not do Harman’s film had no connection with the SRK project. In fact, I’m going to Malaysia to join Priyanka Chopra (who replaced Kareena in the film). And I see no tension between us. Priyanka and I get along well. And that won’t change. Actors keep replacing one another all the time.”

In spite of being struck by a bout of the viral flu, Kareena Kapoor has no time to recuperate. Instead, the actress is headed to Malaysia where she will resume her shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s Don. “Farhan Akhtar’s team is waiting for me there,” says Kareena. “I had to give the IIFA a skip because of the stint in Malaysia. It’s just a two-day shoot and then I’m done.”

She will be working with Shah Rukh Khan for the same. “It’s always a pleasure to work with Shah Rukh,” she says. “I’ve always been a SRK fan. What we did together in Asoka can never be repeated, and now, the ‘Yeh mera dil’ song with him was thoroughly enjoyable. We will also be doing another full-fledged film soon.”

Meanwhile, her next project is the Karan Johar produced Soham Shah directed film opposite John Abraham. “I’m excited about this film because it marks my return to Karan’s banner after K3G. A lot of water has flown under the bridge since I lost out on Kal Ho Na Ho, but that is a thing of the past. Now, I am looking forward to this project that goes on the floors in November.”

With a buzzing professional life, she takes time out for Shahid Kapoor. Both were performing the Rockstar concert recently. “Shahid and I had such a blast during the concert tours,” she says. “We shopped till we dropped and came back to Mumbai with ten suitcases. If there is one lesson to learn from our stars, it is how to shop smart. Guess who was spotted in London shopping her heart out last week? Kareena Kapoor. The lass was accompanied by Amrita Arora and the two were giggling like little school girls, according to eye witnesses. Oxford Street was where they were and our reliable sources swear that they were fussing over a sexy dress in a store. Now, what’s so surprising about that? Not much, just that the place is quite a steal. Nothing in that store is priced at more than 35 pounds. And our reliable sources inform us that the two definitely ran up a huge bill. Now we know where our Bollywood icons get their ‘designer’ tags from!

While Kareena Kapoor has performed in shows abroad, she’s making sure that Rock Stars which is Shahid Kapur’s first world tour, is memorable. Not only does she pay attention to her acts with Kapur but also when she’s not rehearsing, she’s spending plenty of time with Kapur, touring the cities where they’re performing, sight-seeing, going for long walks, besides indulging in regular fare like fine dining and shopping.

No doubt the pair will feel sorry when their tour ends this weekend with a couple of shows in the UK.

The spirited and sassy Kareena Kapoor, known to play fiery characters in most of her films, has now donned the role of a simple, mute girl in her forthcoming film ‘Chup Chup Ke’. Kareena says that she has enjoyed playing this character for two reasons.

“It was a challenge to play this role because I had to emote purely through sign language and expressions. Also, for the first time in my professional life I didn’t have to go for dubbing,” chuckles the star, who has come a long way from her ‘Poo’ days.

Currently enjoying herself at the ‘Rock Stars’ concert that has been travelling to several countries, the actor is excited about returning home for the release of ‘Chup Chup Ke’. Besides, there’s another celebration in store for her - the success of her first hit film with beau Shahid Kapur ‘36 China Town.’
