Come August, and we’ll get to see a casting coup of sorts. Karan Johar, now recuperating at home from a severe bout of food poisoning, is raring to face the camera with Kareena Kapoor.

The two, known for their lovehate relationship will star together in an ad for a paint brand.

“Imagine sharing the screen with my Poo,” he says referring to the character she played in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham . “I don’t know about Kareena, but I’m certainly not going to expose in the ad. What will I tell my mom?!”

After a hearty laugh Karan settles down to reveal more details. “Earlier I directed Kareena in an ad for the paint brand. Now we’re together on screen and it feels funny.”

Karan’s assistant Tarun Mansukhani who later during the year will direct a feature film for Karan, will direct the ad film.

“It’s to be shot in Rajasthan. I don’t know what the concept is. I’ve left it all to Tarun. You know I’m a director’s actor.” Karan deadpans.

Getting humorous again, Karan chuckles and says, “I hope there’s no billing problem. If there is, Kareena’s name can appear first.”

Working hard is not half as bad if your love is always around you. Kareena Kapoor’s been on her toes for months, either on shooting schedules or on a spree of shows, and the only thing that keeps her going is the company of the love of her life - Shahid Kapoor. Well, it’s not like the Kapoor lad has abandoned all his assignments to escort his lady-love around the world. The jodi has been signed on together for several movies and shows. And may be brand endorsements will follow soon, like John Abraham-Bipasha Basu. But that love-story is rumoured to be in troubled waters; so let’s quickly say touch wood for Kareena-Shahid. After all, without lovebirds like them, tinsel town would be such a boring place.

The other day Kareena Kapoor got cold feet when she had to jump into a moving train while filming for Imtiaz Ali’s yet untitled film. Interestingly, the actress has never boarded a train in life, and so was extremely nervous about getting crushed under the wheels of the train.

According to our source, “Kareena has never travelled by a train and here she had to make her way into a running train. It was obviously tough for her and we had to do a few rehearsals before the shot was taken.”

Kareena further panicked as the train picked up speed instead of slowing down, on a few occasions. This is when director Imtiaz Ali asked the actress to ditch the scene if she was uncomfortable. A unit member says, “Bebo was not very comfortable while filming the scene. She faltered a few times, which was quite scary. Unfortunately, the speed of the train was not under our control. That’s when our director Imtiaz said that he didn’t want any mishaps on the set. So he suggested that we scrap the scene.”

However, Kareena refused to compromise and decided to enact the scene. After a few failed attempts, she managed to swiftly jump into the train. Eventually, she got the scene right. The producers (Shri Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd) say, “Kareena was a little nervous initially. But later she gave a perfect shot.”

Kareena Kapoor is making the most of the last few days of lounging around at home, eating, chilling and catching up on some sleep. Come April, Kareena’s family and friends are going to miss her for a long while. Except Shahid Kapur, of course. Well, the two of them start shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s new film; it’s a long shooting schedule that will keep them away from home for sometime. “It’s great that I’ve Shahid for company, but when we’re working together it seems so different. Of course, it’s better than being alone. Now I am spending a lot of time at home with mom, Karisma and most of all Samaira. I miss her too much when I am away. After April the year will get really busy for me,” says Kareena happily. Well, if you’re busy gal, you’d rather be busy with Shahid.

When Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor agreed to be cast together in the Zoya Akhtar directorial, ‘Kismet Talkies’ to be produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, it seemed a casting coup. Incidentally, the two actors had decided not to act together for a while now. However, it later came to be known that Hrithik had decided not to be a part of the film. The recent buzz is that Kareena has also decided to walk out of the film.

Ritesh refutes this saying, “First of all, Hrithik didn’t walk out of the film. Zoya and he have been in talks for a year and half! During the conversations, they got excited about another project.

They want to work together on that film first.” He continues, “However, we still want to produce ‘Kismet Talkies’. So we have been in talks with other actors to be cast opposite Kareena. Kareena is still very much a part of our film. We are waiting to get the right actor and his dates to pair opposite her. We are disturbed by the rumours of Kareena not being a part of our movie. ‘Kismet Talkies’ excites us as a film and we cannot wait to start shooting it,” he asserts.

It’s supposed to be a well-guarded secret, but we have it from a reliable source that Kareena Kapoor and Ajay Devgan have a three-minute love-making scene in Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Omkara’. Sources insist that it is one of the most erotic scenes in the history of Indian cinema and the chemistry between Ajay and Kareena is to be seen to be believed. Given the acting prowess of both actors, we sure they’ll do justice!

Kareena Kapoor has mellowed and she says it’s not because of love. “It’s just that with age, time and experience, all women blossom and it’s the same with me,” says the actor who prefers talking about her forthcoming film ‘Omkara’, than the love of her life Shahid Kapur. “I have a lot of expectations from it. I am waiting to see how the critics and others react to this film. It’s going to be difficult for me to agree to do any role after playing Dolly in ‘Omkara’ because that’s going to be the new benchmark.”

Dolly’s trust for Omi (Ajay Devgan) remains rock steady till the end. Completely smitten by him, she follows her love blindly. “Dolly is very much like me. I am a diehard romantic. When in love, I give my 100 per cent and do just about anything for it.”

Having proved her mettle as an actress with glam roles and offbeat ones like those in ‘Dev’ and ‘Chameli’, Kareena, one of the highest paid actresses today, has always been considered to be in the top league. She has been there and done that and all in a shorter time span than her elder sister Karisma did. So does she feel a creative saturation? “I am still hungry for good work. I am listening to four scripts a day but nothing is challenging enough for me to say yes. So, I am just sitting at home.” A challenge she is looking forward to? “Maybe an ‘Erin Brockovich’. I have decided that now onwards I am only going to do only one film at a time.”

But she is putting the free time to good use by taking off for a holiday next month. Ask her where? She shoots back, “I am not going to tell you where.” But then she smiles and gives in that it will be a European holiday with close friends and family.

Another sign of maturity was when Kareena made peace with Karan Johar with whom she was not on talking terms after she declined to do ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ over price issues. Kareena reflects, “Karan is like family. It’s not about making peace but about having gained my friend back. I may not do a film with Karan for the next 10 years, but our friendship is above that.”

In a relationship with Shahid for the last three years, does the thought of marriage scare her? Confident, she replies, “I am not scared of it but I also know that am I not ready for it.”

The A-list actor is known to live by the heart. So, it might just be that one fine day she might just give it up all - the name, fame and the harsh arc lights? “I am not sure. I was born to act. I breathe films.”

Until recently, it was impossible for two leading ladies to get along well. Kareena Kapoor, who had a spat with Bipasha Basu during Ajnabee, now gets along with every other heroine that she works with. During Abbas-Mustan’s Aitraaz, Priyanka Chopra and Kareeena got along like a house on fire. The two ladies have just returned from a live concert together in Antwerp. And now comes news of another new saheli of Kareena’s. She got along so well with Konkona Sensharma during Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara that even Vishal was taken back. “Yes, they really bonded,” says Vishal. “I had always heard of female actors having cat fights when they work together. But Kareena and Konkona really disappointed me. They were really good together. Maybe the letter ‘K’ did the magic.” In fact, there were no bad vibes between the two, though Kareena was at one time supposed to do Konkona’s role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Page 3. Smiles Konkona, “Kareena is really lovely! Very warm and friendly. Thank God she was there! We were working under really hard conditions. She made it so much easier.”
