Kangana has bagged Sanaa Panscholi’s role
Gangster girl Kangana Ranaut is smart. Although she is just a film old in Bollywood, she seems to have learnt the ropes already. The actress has recently replaced her godfather Aditya Panscholi’s daughter Sanaa for director Suneel Darshan’s next. She says, “The Panscholis are like my family away from home. I can’t dream of hurting them. But I have to be professional. Suneelji has offered me a good role opposite Bobby Deol. He has also offered me a good price. Here you can’t afford to get sentimental about such things. As long as the people who matter to you understand you, you just need to focus on your job.”
Kangana is just back from Dubai after shooting for Mohit Suri’s Woh Lamhe, and says, “I don’t have time to catch my breath because I’m flying off to Johannesberg to join Suneel Darshan’s unit.”
It is obvious that she is eager to start on the film but isn’t there any awkwardness, considering she’s stepping into a role that the daughter of her adopted family, the Panscholis, was earlier doing?
“There would have been,” Kangana says. “In fact, when I heard about it I felt very bad for Sanaa. She’s like my sister. It broke my heart when I heard Suneelji had called up Sanaa’s mother (Zarina Wahab) and told her that Sanaa couldn’t handle the role. I was very distressed, and confused when I was asked to step into the same role.”
Kangana has evidently pacified the Panscholis. “They had absolutely no problem with me doing the role. In fact, Sanaa sat me down and rationalised the whole situation. ‘Better that you do it rather than another actress. I’d feel really bad then,’ she said. Sanaa was just being generous, but she made the decision easier for me,” she says.
The actress has signed three films with UTV. “One is Anurag Basu’s Metro. The other two projects will be finalised once I return from Johannesburg,” she says.
