Bobby Deol was taken by surprise recently, just before boarding a flight to Bangkok with his family, wife Tanya and kids Aryaman and Dharam to complete the shooting of his film Apne. They were waiting for the 11.25 pm flight at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai when a group of 40-odd people suddenly came up to them and surrounded them.

They began pulling and grabbing Bobby, demanding that he pose with them for pictures. They wanted him to chat with the group. Many of them were completely sozzled and wanted to pose for pictures with Bobby’s family. This really upset Bobby who has always been a private person and has insisted on privacy for his family, especially his children.

Bobby said that his family be left alone, and refused to have anything to do with the crowd. At this, the crowd went berserk. They began trying to get at his family too. Things were beginning to turn ugly and getting out of control, when a cop intervened and escorted Bobby and his family away from the scene, to a private area of the airport. After seeing his family into safety, Bobby went back to pose for pictures with his fans and spoke to them for a while. This too boomeranged on him, for the group could not get enough of him and were not willing to let him go in time to board his flight. Cops had to intervene again and escort him to his flight. “It was very annoying since I am particular about keeping my family away from all this,” says Bobby. “I think they were a group of people going on some tour. Thankfully, things did not become too ugly and the situation was brought under control due to the timely intervention of the cops.”

Talk about getting into the skin of the character, and Bobby Deol has been trying hard to do that with his roles lately. And it’s not just the hair-do we’re talking about. Currently, he’s shooting in the city which is the vacation hub for many stars - Bangkok. And Bobby is literally ‘making the most while the sun shines’. Yeah, he’s been sunbathing by the pool-side of his hotel everyday; he needs that slightly auburn, tanned look for his role as a boxing champ in his next Apne, which is being shot there, so the actor thought it was best to do it the natural way. After the shoot is over, which city will he go to for changing colours again?

While we are talking about food anyway, let’s tickle your taste buds a little more. The Deol brothers are connoisseurs of good food. It’s another thing that their well toned-bodies tell a different story. Especially Bobby Deol - he’s tried his luck with the ovens and grills too. On that front, he’s still at the learning stages, but there’s one thing that he’s excellent at - Cappuccino and cold coffee. Apparently, the cappuccino that Bobs makes is better than what most other cafes in town offer, and he’s such a coffee crazy person that he gets special ingredients from abroad to add that touch of difference to his coffee.
