It wasn’t easy shooting for his latest release Nanhe Jaisalmer. Bobby Deol shot for the film in Rajasthan in the scorching heat of April. And there were drastic weather changes during this period as well. The desert city witnessed a sandstorm and then rain within days. Obviously, the shooting schedule went haywire. But the actor stuck to the task and didn’t complain. Must say, here’s one actor who’ll brave even the elements for the perfect shot.

If others can, why should Bobby Deol be left behind? Bobby too will be joining the modelling bandwagon now. He will be modelling for a popular clothes line.

Bobby, who has been in the industry for a decade now, will be modelling for the first time. And he is quite excited about his new career.

The actor confirms the news and says, “Yes, it is true. I am going to endorse this particular brand. I have always had modelling offers but I was not really interested. I was happy being an actor. However, this time, the offer as well as the brand was interesting. Also, they gave me a very good deal financially.”

Bobby is open to doing more such, although he plans to be choosy about his modelling projects. He says, “Modelling is now a part and parcel of every actor’s life. I am open to doing more stuff too, as I am having fun.”

Photographer Atul Kasbekar has offered Bobby the new project. “Earlier, I was supposed to do something with Atul. But it didn’t work out. This time, I didn’t want to say ‘no’ to his offer,” says Bobby.

From what we hear, the scent of a woman is very important to Bobby Deol, and when he found actress Kangana Ranaut’s perfume revolting, he made no bones about it on the sets of their next film, Roshan. Apparently, the floral tone of the perfume by Lancome distracted him.

All was well during the shooting of Roshan, until Bobby was asked to shoot romantic scenes with the actress. Apparently, Bobby hated the perfume that Kangana wore and told her so many times. Says a source, “Kangana and Bobby usually share a great rapport and a wonderful chemistry. But he hates the perfume that Kangana uses and has told her many times to change it. Recently, while shooting a romantic scene, Bobby had to deliver some romantic dialogues. The minute he went close to Kangana, he turned around and whined out to the director, ‘Her perfume puts me off man’. He just couldn’t get the scene right.”

And not just that, the actor has requested Kangana several times to replace her fragrance. Recalls the source, laughing, “Bobby has also warned Kangana that if she doesn’t change the perfume brand he will buy off all the bottles in town and throw them away.”

What does Kangana have to say about it? Far from being upset, Kangana replies laughing, “Isn’t buying off all the perfume bottles and gifting them to me a great idea instead? Yes. Bobby hated this floral perfume that I use, but I am quite fond of it. It is one of the best brands available today. But Bobby doesn’t agree on that. He has warned me that he will buy all the bottles available and throw them away if I don’t stop wearing it.”

And for those who care, Kangana continues to wear the same perfume.

Bobby Deol has turned over a new leaf, we hear, after all the rave reviews that the actor has been receiving for his performances. But now here’s the twist in the happy tale - he has apparently sworn to only do projects he believes in from now on - and the first one of course is Nanhe Jaisalmer, which will release soon. The story revolves around him and a child artiste with Bobby playing himself in the film. As for Bobby, he plans to utilize his talent to the fullest from here onwards, and we could soon be seeing some more powerhouse performances from him.

Bobby Deol has four films lined up in the forthcoming months, but the one closest to his heart is Anil Sharma’s Apne. Apart from this movie, Bobby has SAMEER KARNIK’s Nanhe Jaisalmer and ABBAS MUSTAN’s Naqaab in his kitty, but it’s Apne, that he’s really excited about. Bobby says that he is looking forward to this film as it was for the first time that all the three Deols - DHARMERNDRA, SUNNY and him - were working together. His character is of a person who is trying to make it big in the music world. However, life takes such a turn that instead of a musician, he comes a boxer.

Bobby Deol is known to be a family man and an extremely lovable father. So, when his family is around on the sets, especially his kids, Bobby is the happiest. This was clearly evident when he was shooting for Naqaab in Dubai. His five-year-old son Aryaman joined him for the schedule. Obviously the doting father that Bobby is, he took his son along for his shoot and introduced him to the cast and crew. On the first day he did so, he gave an amazing shot that was okayed in one take. So Bobby began considering Aryaman as his lucky mascot.

Whenever he was on the sets, Bobby would invariably give an excellent shot in one take. As a result, he began getting Aryaman to the sets every day. Ramesh Taurani, the producer of Naqaab, says, “It was an amazing sight when we were shooting in Dubai. Bobby was the most popular star there and he was shooting with fans who were waiting to click his pictures and get autographs. However for all of us in the unit, it was Aryaman who was the star. Aryaman was all over the place and everyone wanted to speak to him and play with him. He was everybody’s favourite on the sets and he was the real star. Bobby was also very charged whenever his son was on the sets. He is such a doting father.”

Bobby Deol surely knows how to make the most of his time. Last week when the dubbing of his film got cancelled, the guy didn’t waste a moment thinking of what to do next. He called up a bunch of buddies, and they all headed to a suburban multiplex to catch a show of Superman Returns. Thankfully, the super-hero saved Bobby’s day. Having grown-up on Superman comics and movies, this man dressed in blue, flaunting his red inner wear, is the dashing Deol’s ultimate hero. Of course, the original superhero, Christopher Reeve was sorely missed, but his gang of buddies seemed to have had a blast watching the flick. Now, we won’t be surprised to see Bobs flashing a Superman tee (like some of his actor friends), or is it too cliché for our very fashionable Deol?

Apparently, you hate being alone. Why so?
Nobody really wants to be alone and I’m not different from anybody else in that regard. I enjoy my space that’s all. Since my whole family lives together, I’m always around people. But, when I am away from my family, it gets to me after a couple of days. I miss the hustle and bustle.

Do you condemn extra-marital affairs?
I am no one to judge that. A great marriage does not mean that you’re perfect, it’s just how you cope and make it work. Today, we are heavily influenced by the West and people believe that marriage is not the only answer to happiness.

Who is sexier - your dad Dharmendra in his thirties or you?
My dad is the most good looking man ever! I don’t think I come close to his looks, so being sexier is far from it. I’m embarrassed when people call me sexy.

How obsessive a lover are you?
Every relationship starts with a great obsession. I personally believe that a lifetime’s treasure is better than a moment’s pleasure.

If you had to exchange places with any celebrity in the world, who would it be and why?
No one.

Not even your father?
No, I could never live up to my father! And for what he’s done in my world.

What would compel you to turn celibate for life?
Only if I fell on my head!

Any woman that you would cheat on your wife Tanya for?
Yes… Tanya’s reflection!

All three Deols are working together for the first time in Apne. Who’s the bigger diva on the set?
No one man, we are all very simple people.

Your hair styles over the years have made more news…
It’s just that when I started my career, I had long hair and I have always liked really long hair. So, it’s kind of become my identity. Right now, my wife’s hair is longer, than mine, but I am trying to get there. The race is on…

You are no longer the youngest in your family anymore…
Ya, I am so glad that my kids have taken over now and the focus has shifted to them. I am no longer the centre of attraction in my home.

Bobby Deol is saddened by the fact that he will not be present at son Aryaman’s birthday. “This is the first time that I will not be present with Aryaman on his birthday,” says Bobby. “He turns five today and I am longing to be with him. We were all together in Bangkok till recently, but the family just returned to Bombay recently. I am already missing him. I wanted to spend time with him but since school reopens, Tanya insisted they return.” Bobby had to stay back and complete his assignments. “It will take another week to wrap up things. But I will make it up to him when I get back to Mumbai,” says Bobby.
