Kim Sharma not ready to change herself

Kim SharmaKim Sharma was always known to speak her mind, but somehow she is now earning a reputation for being over-aggressive and creating scenes quite often. Recently she slapped a foreigner– apparently for hurling abuses against India. NT catches up with the headstrong actor.

I overreact at times
Even when she was going around with cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Kim had a major showdown with Shamita Shetty just because the latter starting chatting with her (then) beau. Kim got so annoyed that she even used some indecent gestures (showing her the middle finger). Apart from this, the damsel also threatened director Deepak Tijori that he dare not make a film without her, or else he will have to face the consequences. Remind her of these showdowns, and the actor says, “Yeah maybe, I overreact at times, but that is how I am-spontaneous, short-tempered and abrupt and I won’t change. Deepak’s case was media hyped, but I definitely don’t regret any of those other two acts involving Shamita and the foreigner. They got what they deserved.”

Back to life
It’s quite some time since the Kim-Yuvi split happened. So, has the wound healed? “You meet so many people everyday. Most of them you meet don’t matter to you but with some–you become emotionally close. That’s what happened between me and Yuvi. But I have recuperated and bounced back to life. Our split was sad, but definitely not unfortunate,” says the actor, refusing to add anything else.

Narrow mindsets
Kim’s revealing outfits and intimate scenes were supposed to be a major factor, which irked Yuvraj’s mother, apparently leading to their split. But Kim says, “I don’t even want to endorse or deny these stories. These are the loose talks perpetrated by people with narrow mindsets.”

Waiting for Prince Charming
Life sure takes a lot of twists and turns. Since the sexy gal claims that she has bounced back to life, is love hap-? “As of now I am not going around with anyone. I am Just taking things easy and definitely waiting for love to happen again. Life doesn’t end with things going wrong. For me love has to be spontaneous and charged with emotion,” she says. “Though I don’t go around with a wish list of any sort, I want my partner has to be a friend and a confidant,” she adds.

Love to paint
The young lady is heavily into painting these days. Does this mean that after the Khans who made headlines for splashing colours on the canvas, it’s now Kim’s turn to make headlines? To this she laughs and replies, “No, I don’t plan to make headlines. I paint the canvas for my happiness. It gives me a high.” Working on the canvas is not the only thing that Kim loves to do when she is not shooting. “I love to play squash and swim too,” says she.

Vidya Malvade and her onscreen avatar are both great survivors

Vidya MalvadeThere is something that’s common between the real and reel life emotions of Vidya Malvade, who plays Vidya Sharma, the captain of the women’s hockey team in Chak De! India. For those not in the loop, this model-turnedactor lost her husband in an aircrash in 2001 just when things in the glamour world had started looking up for her. For six months after the accident, she had hoped for a miracle to happen so that her hubby would return alive. Now when her phone hasn’t stopped ringing ever since Chak De! turned into a huge success, she looks happy. Sometimes, her eyes stray to the picture of her husband that she uses as a bookmark.

Numerous modelling assignments and a fadedinto-oblivion debut in Inteha later, Vidya is back in the limelight rubbing shoulders, as it were, with Shah Rukh Khan. “I was walking the ramp when someone exclaimed about how I had saved the last goal in the film. Many have actually seen this as a game rather than a film. I got a call from the captain of the Indian rugby team too!” she recalls. The most unexpected message came from Nana Patekar, who had called her up on the day of the film’s release. “He said he had sourced my number and called up to congratulate me,” she says.

In spite of so much adulation, Vidya still remains grounded. “People ask me whether I’ve arrived. But arrival and departure happens every Friday in tinsel town. There are times when I meet people who speak nicely to me and then go on to cast someone else for the role. But then, I can’t languish in self-pity,” she insists.

But deep within, one can’t miss how much Vidya misses the presence of the man who had once walked her down the altar. Her voice softens as she says: “He used to call me Lady in Red. I only murmur and say: Thank you for looking after me from above”.

Sayali Bhagat shares her Bollywood dreams

Sayali BhagatLike most beauty queens (she’s a former Femina Miss India) Sayali Bhagat thought winning the beauty pageant would make her Bollywood trek smoother. And like her predecessors she even took the ramp route to the silver screen. Her cinematic debut, The Train didn’t quite set the box-office afire but Sayali seems to be enjoying her stint in films. In town recently to attend a private event, Sayali confesses that her serial kisser co-star Emraan Hashmi has been simply “wonderful to work with. He is one of the most friendly actors in the industry. He is supportive and helpful, and he never interferes in other people’s work. After meeting him, I got positive vibes about the film industry.” Sayali admits that while the casting couch does exist, her modelling background certainly made things easy for her. “Nobody made such offers to me. Girls who are very ambitious fall into this trap. But if one believes in oneself and God, then things do work out in their favour.”

Brought up in a traditional Maharashtrian family, Sayali had to really convince her parents about her dreams of being part of the glamour biz. “I had to sit down and explain my need to be part of the modelling and film industry. I started modelling when I was in Class IX and since then there has been no looking back.”

Ask her if she was comfortable doing cosy scenes with Emraan and she sportingly says: “As an actor, it’s my job to make the character look real enough to convince the audience. I have also fallen into real garbage for a scene in my next film Good Luck because that’s what the story demanded.”

Sayali is also being signed for a three film contract with producer Shyam Bajaj and is also doing a dance number in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol. So is life shaping up the way she wanted it to? “I am happy that my work has got appreciated and the industry has accepted me by offering me more films. There are enough films being made and there is enough work for everybody. I don’t compete with anybody. I want to grow in my own way.”

When she is not shooting, Sayali loves to read and go for walks on the beach. And like most young girls, she loves gossiping for hours “on the phone with friends. And since I giggle a lot, my friends call me giggling queen,” she laughs.

Sayali Bhagat competes with SRK

Sayali BhagatRemember how Shah Rukh Khan had jumped from a great height for his film? Well, now we hear Sayali Bhagat is following in his footsteps. The girl is hell-bent on doing all her stunts herself, we hear. In fact, for a recent sequence, Sayali calmly jumped off a 20-foot ladder onto another 20-foot ladder. And the girl didn’t even bat an eyelid - instead of shivering with fear, she was smiling away to glory. Ask her if she was just a wee bit petrified and she replies, “If I was scared I would have asked someone else to do my stunt, but I preferred to do it myself.” Looks like SRK and Akshay Kumar have competition!

She has such a fantastic role in the movie, I really wouldn’t mind swapping.” But alas, all such decisions can be taken only by the Sarkar.

Tanisha is on the run

Tanisha MukherjeeTanisha is busy all of a sudden. And is living out of a suitcase. After all, she does have as many as three films on the floor - Sarkar 2, 123, Coffee Break.
